Cool C Granted Second Stay of Execution by Philly Judge

Philly Rapper Cool C will live to see another day. A Philadelphia recently judge granted the rapper a stay of execution, stemming from a 1996 murder conviction.

Cool C is a Philly Rapper active in the late 1980s. Cool C was one of the original members of the Philly Rap Group the Hill Top Hip Hop Crew, and his first album, I Gotta Habit, was released in 1989 and received moderate success.

The rapper’s career was derailed though due to being convicted in 1996 of the murder of a female police officer. In early January 1996, Cool C, along with fellow Philly Rapper Steady B attempted to rob a PNC bank branch here in Philly. During the heist, Cool C shot and killed a Philly police officer.  The rapper was convicted of first degree murder, and was sentenced to death.

This is the second stay of execution he has received. Cool C was first granted a stay of his execution in 2006.
